Sebastian Rein

Managing Partner

Sebastian Rein began his career with Weintraub Financial Services, Inc. in Los Angeles.  He created his first syndication in 1998 with the acquisition, renovation, refinance, and eventual sale of an 8-unit apartment building in Beverly Hills. In 1999, Mr. Rein founded Reinhart Properties and began growing a network of investors, real estate professionals, contractors, and vendors in order to acquire and renovate multi-family assets.

In 2002 Mr. Rein and Mr. McDermott co-founded Sebren Development for the same purpose. Since that time, Mr. Rein has co-founded three other companies: Sebren Properties, the firm’s property management arm, Sebren Construction, handling all capital improvements, and Remediation Solutions, offering management companies and property owners expert solutions to municipal and county code violations.  As President of Sebren Development, Inc., Mr. Rein has overseen all of the firms’ capital events. Mr. Rein co-created the Sebren strategy for success, predicated on service to its investors, a passion for its work, and integrity at every level.

Mr. Rein has a BA from University of Wisconsin-Madison. A native of New York City, Mr. Rein is committed to urban renewal and serves as the current President of the Friends of the Levitt Pavilion – MacArthur Park, a 501(c)3 dedicated to building community through music by producing 50 free concerts every summer in Los Angeles’s MacArthur Park. Mr. Rein is a triathlete, a boxer, and a poker player.

Brendan McDermott

Managing Partner

As Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Sebren Development, Inc., Brendan McDermott oversees the strategic and operational vision for the firm. He also co-manages the commercial real estate and multi-family asset acquisitions and dispositions, valuation, property management, and construction management of the portfolio. Mr. McDermott has completed approximately $165MM in multi-family, mixed-use, and ground–up transactions to date. In the past 12 years, Sebren Development and its affiliated entities have acted as general manager or sponsor of more than 25 real estate partnerships.

Mr. McDermott is also the Managing Director and Co-Founder of two sister companies, Sebren Properties and Sebren Construction which operate to the benefit of Sebren Development’s portfolio as property management and construction management respectively.

Mr. McDermott is a licensed contractor in the state of California and has managed over $20MM in construction projects for multi-family projects including re-development, ground-up construction, and historic restoration.

Mr. McDermott is an accomplished entrepreneurial executive with extensive operational experience involving start-up organizations. Prior to Sebren Development, Mr. McDermott was a Director at ITU Ventures, a seed stage venture capital firm charged with investing in university based technology companies where he participated in a second round capital raise of $30MM and identified qualified investment opportunities.

Mr. McDermott is an Advisory Board Member for Mushroom Networks, Inc., President of the Board for All Children Great and Small, and a coach for AYSO. Mr. McDermott completed his undergraduate studies at Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont Colleges.
